Nehemiah Pitts III is the Chair of the Community Technology & Telecommunications Commission (CTTC) for the City of Austin. Serving on the Commission since 2016 by virtue of two separate elected Councilmember appointments from District #1 and Chair since 2019, Nehemiah proudly advises Austin City Council, city departments, staff, and partners on best-practice solutions and leads Commission directed programming for the City of Austin related to community technology and telecommunications services, including digital inclusion, civic engagement, infrastructure, innovation, information/data stewardship, and related strategic policy impact. Since 2016, Nehemiah has also served as Ex-Officio Chair of Grant for Technology Opportunities Program (GTOPs), a matching nonprofit grant funded by the City, managed by the Department of Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (TARA), and overseen by the Commission.
A central Texas native, Nehemiah graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 1996 before forging a dynamic career in technology, management consulting, and community engagement with a focus on Central Texas. Noteworthy successes include frontline digital technology evangelism and major account management driving the Apple Inc. comeback, as well as strategic development efforts to propel both award-winning local nonprofits and global SaaS industry leaders alike. Nehemiah is also the Principal Consultant and Executive Producer at Shining Light Consulting, as well as a proud co-parenting single father and all-around community champion.
