Anand Hemnani

Senior Director, Strategic Infrastructure Performance Institute

Mr. Hemnani focuses on infrastructure globally, with a particular focus on Brazil. He works in all areas of the financial value chain, including: Financial Structuring & Financial Analysis; M&A Advisory; Market analysis and assessment; Competitor analysis and intelligence; Business Plan / Scenario creation and strategy development; and Project development. Mr. Hemnani is an expert in infrastructure project development – and works with foreign and major local firms, Multilateral and Development Institutions, Private Equity Funds and local governments to evaluate and develop projects. He has conducted extensive fieldwork and analysis in the Latin American infrastructure markets over the past 23 years, is widely published, and has presented in several international conferences. Additionally, he is a top 2% Leader in the Gerson Lehman Group Expert Advisory globally since 2006 and works closely with the leading hedge funds as well as Pension Funds, specifically assessing public equity plays. 


Mr. Hemnani also serves on the Board of Directors for an international manufacturing and distribution company with assets in Southeast Asia, West Africa and Latin America. He is one of 5 board members, and has helped grow the net worth of the company by US$30 million over the past 4 years. He previously worked in a Brazilian-based international trading company, where he acquired an expertise in market assessment, export-import, trade financing and macro economic issues. Among the relevant work conducted over the past 23 years, he has worked directly with the US Government and the Brazilian Government as well as several private sector assignments focused on enhancing efficiency and catalyzing investments into infrastructure. Mr. Hemnani has also coordinated research for and produced several M&A assignments, market assessments, and project finance structures, developing entry strategies for companies wishing to tap the markets in question, brokering partnerships and implementing execution. Efforts have been ground-up exhaustive competitive situation analysis conducted primarily through in-country networking and data analysis. These have culminated in 4 separate industrial plant set-ups, and resulted in partnerships and acquisitions amounting to US $ 1.5 billion.

He began his career at an international trade company and worked as an Investment Banker. He is married to the former Malaika Daryanani and has two children, Alma and Arya, both studying in Brazil. He is a Brazilian national with Indian roots and is a graduate of Babson College (summa cum laude) and is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Hindi.
