Panel Discussion: Creating & Leveraging Digital Twins Cities

Intelligent Cities, Digital Twins & Resilience

Digital Twins – a virtual representation or digital replica of a physical object, system, or process – is a digital counterpart that mirrors the characteristics, behavior, and attributes of its physical counterpart in real-time or near-real-time. Digital twins, which georectify data, are becoming increasingly popular in various cities and countries as a tool for urban planning, infrastructure management, and decision-making, with a market expected to increase from USD 6.9 billion in 2021 to USD 73.5 billion by 2027.

While it’s challenging to determine the exact number of digital twins or rank countries based on their prevalence, some countries and cities have been actively adopting and implementing digital twin technologies including Singapore, Dubai, and certain countries in Europe. This panel will consider the role of digital twins in creating and leveraging cites, including:

  • Creating city-scale digital twins
  • Data collection, modeling, management
  • Underground Digital Twin
